I’ve been back in West Des Moines, IA for a little over a year now. Back when i was growing up I didn’t realize this but it’s amazing
the number of entrepreneurs in the the Des Moines Metro Area. What’s even more amazing is how quick everyone is to respond and act when things go wrong. My company has been doing work lately for Doug Mitchell of CreateWOWMedia developing some web content for a new venture of his. His company has also been doing work for Mac’s World Live which was previously on WOW 98.3 FM & then Praise 940 AM. Due to circumstances I’m not privy to his talk show is no longer associated with Prais 940 AM.
For the last week or so we’ve been running back end operations and producing a web cast on the spur of the moment for Mac’s World Live. Doug got a call on a Tuesday night saying that they needed Doug’s studio at Impromptu studios (office with studio equipment for podcasting) and the following Monday he was broadcasting on a live internet stream. It really excites me when I see how quick entrepreneurs can adapt to trouble and make things work. Rather than focus on the past or even wait until Mac has a terrestrial location on radio we jimmy-rigged an office into a studio and as of today, enabled his cell phone to take calls from his loyal internet listeners.
Furthermore, because of Mac’s introduction to web casting he’s looking to develop a 24/7 web casting station for the DSM area. With every trouble comes opportunity. It’s like Gerber said in my last post, “Entrepreneurs have vision. Managers have purpose.” There truly is a vision here that will not only help Mac get back on the airwaves, but provide great opportunities for other entrepreneurs to share their ideas and thoughts on live camera. Producing the show has been fun, watching it all come together has been great.

thanks for this post "schultzie". i think i have a new mantra, "adaption is the mother of profit' mark that down! rolling with it can send you down rabbit holes but can also expose new opportunities and strategies. 5 weeks ago, Mac had NO plans to do anything with the Internet. Now, he's planning a full blown business that will employ Iowans. i'd say that's not a bad deal. thanks again for being a adaptive entrepreneur steve.
