I read the front page of the Drake University newspaper and saw something really cool, that is, for Drake.
For 2009 tuition is only going to increase 2.99% while most other institutions are estimating 4-6%. Granted, 2.99 of $24k is a lot more than 6% of $6k but props to Drake for keeping it down.
I wanted to briefly follow-up on my previous post “Hyperinflation in Education” because there was one point I just noticed I neglected to mention. With capacity problems increasing and a possible huge hike in tuition in the next 2-4 years there is one more thing that may happen.
We will see either the educational disparity gap widen as I previously stated, or we are going to see post-secondary education deteriorate.
The balance between cost and quality has plagued every industry and is very difficult to maintain. Surely we can’t count on the government to keep that balance for us.
Good luck all, have a great night!
