I am now apparently obliged to mention that @tswarts, or Tom Swartwood gets credit for referring me to these two videos. Maybe I'll post his email addy here so those of you that are practicing your elevator pitch can bombard him with video/audio samples. Or rather, you could send it all to me and I'll be sure to forward it to him. :)

Tom - I would have referenced you but as far as I can tell you still don't have an online presence. What's the point of referencing someone for no one else to find? :)

Nice post Steve and great insights. That's why we like you :)
I am blown away every time I visit an institution or company that has an amazing story...if only people would let it be told where others are looking! Central Academy is unreal! So in the last 3 weeks, I've learned of a two educational institutions (Central + a College) that are virtually invisible online yet have compelled me to want to drive my 6 and 4 year olds to go there when they're old enough. Amazing.

I totally agree with this. I have had so many classes that i have 3 tests (multiple choice) and maybe a project. And you know what I remember about the class? Not much. In regards to textbooks, I couldn't agree more. I now go to a school with textbook rental, so I don't have to purchase books anymore. But I went to Iowa State for two years and felt the pain of buying books that I never opened. It is up to the students to demand an education that will help us. I am not paying thousands of dollars to have my hand held for four more years.

[...] Core Values: I feel like I’m beating a dead horse here because of how much I’ve blogged about this in the past two weeks. STICK TO YOUR ORGANIZATIONS CORE VALUES! This isn’t just your mission statement or vision statement. This is about what your company is. Why did you or your founder build this great organization from the ground up? Why have you worked so hard to help solve a problem & satisfy a need? Why have you been so persistent in accomplishing your dream? More often than not, when you answer these questions, entrepreneurship is no longer about not working for the man, making a living for yourself, or becoming wealthy. It’s about passion. Stick to your organizations core values or you will not weather this storm. That’s my guarantee. [...]

thanks for this post "schultzie". i think i have a new mantra, "adaption is the mother of profit' mark that down! rolling with it can send you down rabbit holes but can also expose new opportunities and strategies. 5 weeks ago, Mac had NO plans to do anything with the Internet. Now, he's planning a full blown business that will employ Iowans. i'd say that's not a bad deal. thanks again for being a adaptive entrepreneur steve.
